Biblical Values

When it comes to the biblical values that most influenced my ministry decisions, it is kind of hard for me to narrow down because I feel as if there are various values from the word of God that have led me to the place I am today.

When it comes to the biblical values that most influenced my ministry decisions, it is kind of hard for me to narrow down because I feel as if there are various values from the word of God that have led me to the place I am today. To begin with, honoring and listening to my parents have been one of the biblical values that have influenced my ministry decisions. When it comes to studying criminology and sociology, it was hard for me in the beginning to understand or appreciate the desire God had placed in my heart to follow. Although my parents are not Christian (but I know they will be), I honored them through the fact that I sacrificed myself until now in school, taking their advice into consideration. Another biblical value that most influenced my ministry decisiones has been also obeying the desire that God had placed in my heart. The word of God says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9 NIV). Trusting God and obeying the desire He had placed in my heart was not only very influential in my ministry decisions (with pursuing school and even being obedient in the youth ministry God has given me), but it was a biblical value that will benefit me in the future as well. Where there is obedience, I know for a fact that God is present. When I began reading my Bible and I read the story of David, I was amazed on how God would delight in David various times and it is mentioned. As I continued reading, I saw that it was because He always kept a secret place with God. I saw the same thing when I was reading the book of Daniel and it stated, “As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the word and understand the vision.” (Daniel 9:23 NIV). David and Daniel (as well as others) were highly heard by God because they always kept a secret place. This biblical value of keeping my secret place with God has most influenced my ministry decisions because it constantly makes me aware that the decisions I end up taking are not mine but Gods, due to the fact that I have consulted with him first. When my boyfriend and I were deciding on what to bring to youth nights when it came to themes for each month (the month of March), we had decided on something in which we had not consulted with God. When we began praying and we brought it to God together and individually, we began to realize that the Lord wanted us to talk about the disciplines and how their characteristics were similar to many of ours, and how God uses them (which we couldn’t have come up with on our own). Biblical Values such as these have not only strengthened my ministry decisions, but have strengthened my faith and my relationship with Jesus.
